Review – Samsung Galaxy S2

If there is a brand in the market which is giving Apple some serious competition in the market when it comes to touch screen phones, it is Samsung. After iPhone 4s, probably one of the best touch screen phones around is Samsung Galaxy S2.

This is an Android phone with touch sensitivity comparable to iPhone. That speaks volumes about the phone already. What’s surprisingly better in Samsung Galaxy S2 compared to iPhone 4s is the display. With the former, you get a richer set of colors and more brightness, which means a better experience when viewing pictures or videos on its large screen.

What’s also commendable about the phone is the quality of the camera, not to leave out the fantastically fast processor of the phone. However, on the flip side, the user interface is a little bit tedious as compared to the iPhone. It is not much but for Apple fans, it can be hard to digest. It is also priced comparable to iPhone 4, which is another slight drawback of the phone.

However, if you have the moolah and if iPhone is not available, Samsung Galaxy S2 is a phone worth going for.

Review – Nexus S

While we are on the subject of best touch screen phones in the market, we cannot leave out Nexus S. It is easily one of the best Android phones around, with an impressive touch and Android Gingerbread for a software. Let’s talk about the positive of the phone first:
It has got a great battery life. In fact, it is one of the best touch screen phones around in terms of battery. If you into downloading lot of apps or games on your mobile, you would easily get through the day with your Nexus S. However, with higher volume of calling, you may need to plug it in. But it is still better than most others out there. Another great thing about the phone is the touch sensitivity. Being a touch screen phone, that’s the first thing that should be right and Nexus S gets it bang on. Although Apple still leads the way when it comes to touch sensitivity, Nexus S will not disappoint you.

However, what it will disappoint you in is the slightly tedious UI, especially with the new multitouch functions. The design of the phone is a little away from the traditional with all the curves and angles, which can make handling the phone a little tougher. But if you can ignore those minor drawbacks of the phone, it is definitely a great touch screen phone to buy.

Review – iPhone 4S

It was Apple which first introduced the world to the joy of touch screen phones. It continues to dominate the market despite several other brands joining the cue. Arguably and not surprisingly, one of the best touch screen phones around is Apple’s iPhone 4s. Here is what I love about the phone and a slight bit that I don’t.

The design: The design of iPhone 4s hasn’t been changed much compared to the earlier version i.e. iPhone 4. It is still almost the same, sleek and stylish design that everyone loves to hold in their hands.

The processor: Apple has upgraded the processor of the iPhone in the latest version, although it is the same which is being used in iPad 2 already i.e. A5 dual core. However, with the upgraded processor comes the awesome speed which many are used to on iPad 2. A big thumbs up for that.

Siri: the star: Ever since iPhone 4s has been released, Siri has been the talking point of it. Although it is not the first time a mobile company has tried out the voice recognition feature, Apple takes it to a whole new level with Siri. However, if you are in India, you may be a touch disappointed since your personal voice assistant won’t understand each and every command, given the accent issues. But considering that Siri is still in Beta, we are very hopeful with the next release.

No 4G: This is the only grudge I have against what is truly a fantastic touch screen phone. Apple iPhone 4s does not have 4G capability, but that isn’t much of an issue, considering the other great features the phone has to offer.

P.S. Did I leave out the amazing quality 8 megapixel camera?

Review – HTC Thunderbolt

This is one phone which is aptly named. If you are looking for a touch screen phone with 4G capability, this is the best of the lot. The biggest standout of the phone is the impressive uploading and downloading speeds you get with this phone. The updated 4G LTE network of Verizon works amazingly well on this phone. What’s also impressive about this phone is the camera, which offers nice picture quality. It has a 8 megapixel dual flash camera which offers better picture quality than most other touch screen phones.
The 4.3 inch screen of the phone also has a nice resolution, although you would find it hard to read it under the sun. As far as touch sensitivity goes, this phone does a commendable job of it. However, some people have reported minor network issues with this phone when the configuration of the phone needs to be updated. But that is not a very big glitch. A bigger glitch is the unimpressive battery life. The HTC Thunderbolt arguably has the worst battery life of all the good touch screen phones out there. Thus, if you are a heavy user, this phone is not recommended for you.

Review – HTC Desire S

Apple is the leader alright when it comes touch screen mobile phones. However, that does not mean that iPhone is the only worthy option available when looking for touch screen phones. In fact, there are quite a few touch screen phones around which offer value for money, one of them is HTC Desire S.

If Apple’s iPhone or Samsung’s Galaxy S 2 are out of reach for you, HTC Desire 2 is made for you. It is an android phone which won’t leave you disappointed. To start with, the touch sensitivity of the phone will offer you a good browsing experience. Although the trackpad has been done away with compared to the original Desire, it improves the usability rather than destroy it.

On the display front, the phone scores impressive points. The images are crystal clear and the colors are bright which enhance the viewing experience on the relatively large screen of the phone. However, what comes as a disappointment is the 5 megapixel camera. It does not offer the kind of quality you would want from a 5 megapixel camera. Nevertheless, priced way below than Samsung Galaxy S2 and Apple iPhone 4s, HTC Desire S does make for a phone worth investing in.
